2021July 4th Events
It’s that time of year again! The annual 4th of July Battle of the Barrel, hosted by the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department, is quickly approaching! All fire/rescue departments are invited to attend. The public is encouraged to come and support your local volunteers in our friendly competition. Where: 3628 New Creek Hwy, Keyser, WV 26726, United States. Registration begins at 9:00 am with a captains meeting being at 9:45 am. The battle will officially begin at 10:00 am. Due to the short notice, this year may not have any trophies, just bragging rights!
Frostburg Elks 44th Derby Day Races being held July 3, 12 noon starting with a parade of all drivers down Main Street to the Elks Lodge for a short ceremony. The races start at 12:30 and run to 4:00. We are happy to have third and fourth generation drivers this year so please join us for a fun day in Frostburg cheer for all of the youth participating in Derby Day. Food trucks in our parking lot and on Main Street
Moorefield, WV: The fireworks display will be held at the Moorefield Town Park
An Annual memorial service will be held for American Revolutionary War veterans at the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization (CHCO) Headquarters at 400 S. Allegany Street in Cumberland at 1pm. There will be reading of the Capt. David Lynn CHCO plaque at the 1801 columns followed by a wreath laying at Capt. Lynn CHCO grave monument located in Rose Hill Cemetery on Fayette Street in Cumberland.
Capon Valley Ruritan Yellow Springs July 4th Celebration will be held Sunday July 4th at the Capon Valley Ruritan Park. Registration is from 9am until noon. Dash plaques will be available for the first 75 cars. Top 20, Best of Show plaques. There will be bbq chicken, pulled pork and homemade ice cream. There will also be live music and a benefit auction.
Cumberland, MD: The City of Cumberland Independence Day Fireworks at Constitution Park will be taking place on Sunday, July 4, 2021, commencing at approximately 9:30 p.m. Leading up to the fireworks display, Constitution Park Pool will be open on July 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the park closing to the public at 4:00 p.m. Pine Avenue will be closing to thru traffic at 4:00 also, but local traffic will still have access to their homes. In the unlikely event of rain, Monday, July 5th has been set as the rain date. Rocky Gap State Park: Fireworks will be held at the park amphitheater on July 4th at dusk. The amphitheater and area surrounding it will be closed for visitors safety
Washington Street, Cumberland: The Let’s Beautify Cumberland Committee will be hosting a live performance by the Chinese Bandits at 6pm around Prospect Square. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Keyser, WV: The City of Keyser will be hosting 4th of July Music in the park. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Brooks Park Fireworks will be visible from this area. The following music acts will be performing till dark: Solid Gold 530-715 New Chapter 730 Cold drinks will be sold at the event. We ask that everyone social distance as much as possible. Absolutely NO fireworks of any kind in the park.
Deep Creek Lake: The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display at Wisp Resort overlooking Deep Creek Lake, Maryland on July 4, 2021. Join the celebration! The display is set to begin around 9:30 pm and is set off from the tubing hill at the Mountain Park at Wisp Resort. Free. For any location you choose to view the fireworks from, please remember to practice social distancing. Prime viewing locations for the annual display include:

◦Lawn at Garrett College
◦Boat on Deep Creek Lake, particularly McHenry Cove
◦Local Businesses in McHenry
